Where are you Retiring?

F inding the right place to retire always brings with it a range of questions and ideas. You finally have the freedom to move and live where you want to but you have to decide where the best place is for you. It is important to ask what kinds of activities you will want to participate in when you retire and what kind of weather, or general outdoor environment you would like. It is wise to do a little research before you make your decision and compare a number of different places and all they may offer you.

Sedona is also an easy place to get out and walk so keeping healthy can be simple. They also host the International Film Festival as well as other musical and artistic events throughout the year.

US News cited Boulder, Colorado as one of the Best Healthy Places to Retire. The mountains offer many places to get outside and hike or exercise. Boulder is also known for staffing its senior services from local resources that help run recreation centers, help seniors with insurers, get transportation for those who are sick, and they even find friends and companions for people who may be lonely.

Northern California is home to many 55+ communities including Roseville, Elk Grove, Rocklin, and Rio Vista just to name a few. Although homes can be expensive, with so many retirement villages the cost of living is very affordable. And you can enjoy the beach with clean Pacific Ocean air, or you are not too far from local ski resorts in the winter, and there are a number of small towns to explore nearby.

Fort Worth is a tremendously affordable place to live averaging almost 10% below the national cost of living index, and the median home price is less than $95,000. Wherever you plan on retiring just be smart about being prepared for it. Find where you want to live, and make sure you can afford housing, food, and even entertainment costs for that area. Factor in if you plan on traveling, or would need extra medical care, or anything else that you would need to be financially and geographically prepared for.

Retirement is a time to enjoy the fruit of your hard work in life. Visiting family, spending time with your partner or friends, and finally finding time to enjoy those hobbies you always wanted to do. Make sure to pick a retirement area that meets your needs and wants, and enjoy the freedom of time there.
