I got myself a new bike on Saturday,Feb 2, 2008.

After having owned 3 R1100S' and 1 R1200S I decided it was time for a different kind of Beemer.

I had been lurking for the previous model already for some time but decided to wait until a new model would be introduced. I didn't know it was going to be so soon, after all, I had the R1200S for only 20 months...

But I couldn't resist, I'll be picking it up on Feb 16!
I got it with all options (asc, abs, esa, alarm, spoked wheels, crashbars, etc in Shieferdunkel Metallic Mat).
Mods: K&N and Rapidbike for the extra bit of juice...

Unknown watch

I got this watch from my dad today. It's an early '70s automatic and has been lying in a drawer for over 30 years. After a little shake it started ticking and it is still running fine days later.

As I couldn't find anything on the Internet I wrote a mail to a German watch museum. One day later it turns out to be a real classic!
------------------------

Happy New Year!

It's been said millions of times before but nevertheless it is a strong message:

Happy New Year!

I wish all visitors to this site a prosperous 2008 with lots of fun.

Thanks South Africa, for having us

We're just back from a great trip in South Africa (December 10 - 27, 2007), visiting the Kruger National Park, The Greater St. Lucia Wetlands Park and Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game Reserve.

Check out the photo gallery here:

The trip fully met my expectations, this is a great country with great people, rich and poor alike. I do have to say we had 3 bad days. Leaving the Kruger park from the north the weather turned bad on us. It rained almost solid for 3 days and the temperature dropped till 11 degrees centigrade in the Blyde River Canyon area. Not funny! Other than that: super!

Big Nile crocodiles inhabit the waters around St. Lucia Wetlands park. Between 2002 and 2006 six people were killed and/or eaten. 4 fishermen where grabbed when they pulled their catch from the water. One old man was pulled away at night from his campfire near the water. The other one was probably a careless tourist and was eaten.
