Update May 15 08 - Vista is fine, tons of applications, drivers, no issues. But... But after a bit more research I decided to start over with Kubuntu. More specifically Kubuntu which adds the KDE desktop. 8.04 with KDE 3.5.9 As I'm a total novice when it comes to Linux it took me a bit of figuring out. But 2 days later I was up and running. Everything worked. TV-Out so I can play videos om my TV, sound, mouse, even the power-save settings are all working as they should.

Today I had my first real offroad experience when I joined a bunch of seasoned hardballs going fast through mudholes, farmland, sandy paths and what have you. I could barely keep up and fell of twice. But what a great experience it was, can't wait to go again! Oh, and next time I'll leave the coffins at home :) Back at home I was not amused with the mud that literally penetrated every singe hole and stuck to every centimeter of surface and, even worse, turned out to be extremely adhesive. My brand new bike totally messed up!

Finally, today I have picked up my very first 2008 BMW R1200GS. Impression: as powerful as the R1200S (I installed a rapidbike and K&N), very responsive to the throttle. Great handling, suspension is very stiff, just as I like it. Did some off road, a few dirt roads, can't say too much about that yet. Freeway doing 140 very comfortably, very quite too due to the great windshield. Check out the other pictures here: http://www.burlingtonrubyconference.com/?q=image/tid/7 |
