No more Vista, I switched to Linux

Update May 15 08 - Vista is fine, tons of applications, drivers, no issues. But...
Everybody needs a challenge every now and then right? Like I don't have enough of them!
But anyway, So I wiped my brand new Asus F8P notebook and installed Opensuse. No success, I couldn't get my screen resolution right, TV-Out didn't work, sound wasn't good, mouse behaved funny and so on.

But after a bit more research I decided to start over with Kubuntu. More specifically Kubuntu which adds the KDE desktop. 8.04 with KDE 3.5.9

As I'm a total novice when it comes to Linux it took me a bit of figuring out. But 2 days later I was up and running. Everything worked. TV-Out so I can play videos om my TV, sound, mouse, even the power-save settings are all working as they should.

Boxmeer offroad trip March 29, 2008

Today I had my first real offroad experience when I joined a bunch of seasoned hardballs going fast through mudholes, farmland, sandy paths and what have you. I could barely keep up and fell of twice. But what a great experience it was, can't wait to go again! Oh, and next time I'll leave the coffins at home :)

Back at home I was not amused with the mud that literally penetrated every singe hole and stuck to every centimeter of surface and, even worse, turned out to be extremely adhesive. My brand new bike totally messed up!
4,5 hours of cleaning fixed that though...

blackSP's allroad adventure

Today is February 24, 2008. Ive just returned from my first two days all-road trip and man oh man, what a great time I had!
I figured now I have a GS I might as well find some dirt roads and better, go out camping this weekend.
I used Google earth to find some nice quiet forest down south in Limburg and Brabant and that's where I went. First 70 kms was the unavoidable and boring highway A2 but once I took the back roads fun began. First I had to cross a few streams, the Rhine in this case.

First day with my first GS

First day with my first GS

Finally, today I have picked up my very first 2008 BMW R1200GS.

Impression: as powerful as the R1200S (I installed a rapidbike and K&N), very responsive to the throttle. Great handling, suspension is very stiff, just as I like it. Did some off road, a few dirt roads, can't say too much about that yet. Freeway doing 140 very comfortably, very quite too due to the great windshield.
